Organizing and implementing workshops on sustainable farming techniques. ·
Education of rural communities to form “village savings and loan
associations” (VSLA) for common money saving to gain financial security. ·
Supporting the establishment of farmers’ cooperatives to strengthen their
market power. ·
In cooperation with the DINU-project (Development initiative for Northern
Uganda), National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO), Sasakawa Global
Africa, Lira University, Muni University, Solidaridad and the government of
Uganda, GWAD establishes an agricultural marketing hub and training center in
Gulu City. ·
Successful application for funding (Kleinstprojekt) by the German embassy
to buy four sets of oxen team and ploughs to support the member groups.
Further cooperations
For three years, GWAD has also been cooperating with the German “Senior
Experten Service” (SES) receiving an expert from German, Dr. Robert Haas, on
a regular basis to support GWAD’s work and development. In 2022, GWAD further
participated in the project “Team works” by the German African Youth Office
and the SES for an exchange program with the Eine Welt Netz NRW e.V. In doing
so, Svenja Bloom (Eine Welt Netz NRW) joined the GWAD-team in Gulu for one
month and Solomon Rackara (GWAD) joined the team of the Eine Welt Netz NRW in
Münster, also for one month. Both Dr. Haas and Miss Bloom are and will
further support the work of GWAD from Germany. |
